North West Aluminium appoints new Commercial Project Manager

North West Aluminium have announced the appointment of Steven Nairn as its Commercial Project Manager for its brand GutterClad as the company expands its product and service offering throughout the Irish and UK market.

This new role will allow the company to further enhance its offering to larger building contractors, roofers and aluminum rainwater installers.

In recent years the company has grown from an established Aluminium Roofing Accessory Manufacture in Ireland and the UK to now also offering a full Aluminium Rainwater product range for both Self Build and Commercial Projects.

GutterClad

Under the GutterClad brand, NWA design and manufacture standard Aluminium products including Gutters, Downpipes, Fascia, Soffit, Window Cills, Standing Seam, Cappings and various bespoke Aluminium products. With R&D and new product innovation as a key driver, the company has committed to further product development for the Commercial market in 2021.

Steven originally joined the company in 2019 having been in the construction sales sector for a number of years. A qualified joiner and project manager Steven has over 15 years of experience and brings extensive knowledge to the new role.

“Being involved from the start of the project, seeing the drawings and plans, being onsite offering advice and problem-solving, and bringing this through to manufacturing, powder coating, and ultimately to the installation stage gives me great satisfaction. I have worked on various sites throughout my career and I will be bringing that experience to the role. Not only are we expanding our range of products we also expanding our installer network across Ireland and the UK. We aim to give new innovative bespoke solutions to our installer network and contractors”, said Steve.

Expanding and Recruiting

Working closely with their customers and understanding their needs while developing new and innovative products has resulted in huge expansion and the hiring of key staff at the Donegal family-owned company. With consistent double-digit sales growth over the past few years, North West Aluminium has more than doubled its workforce since 2017 with the company now having 50 full-time staff across Ireland and the UK.

Recruitment has included in-house Quantity Surveyors, new product Designers and a Technical Manager with further Field Technical Representatives on the ground who also help assist clients with key projects.

Over the last number of years, the company has opened a number of state-of-the-art facilities in the villages of Termon and Kilmacrennan in North West Donegal with a major expansion of the company’s office and manufacturing HQ facility due to be completed later this year with an additional 20,000 sq. ft. under construction bringing total factory space to 65,000 sq. ft.

New Training Facility

North West Aluminium are opening a new training facility for its brands Kytun Dry Roofing & GutterClad in the summer of 2021.

This facility will be designed to give both domestic and commercial roofers and installers hands-on training directly from the manufacture. Technical Manager Hugh Harkin sees the benefits of the expansion as being a win-win for NWA and for the network of Installers that NWA partner with “it is exciting news from an industry point of view in that this training facility will also allow the company to innovate new products for the market while gaining a better understanding of our customer’s needs”.

Recent projects North West Aluminium have manufactured and installed products for includes: Luxury Apartments for Comer Homes, Royal Connaught Park, Watford, London, Residential project for Townlink Construction, €11.5m Rosemount Court Dundrum Dublin, Centre Parks in Longford with John Sisk & Son, €233m and the €16m Acute Mental Health Unit, Sligo with Boyle Construction.
