The Sorting Office receives LEED Platinum Certification

Built by Walls, The Sorting Office, Marlet’s recently completed office development, has been awarded a LEED Platinum Certification, the highest possible accreditation, by the US Green Building Council (USGBC) for achievement in environmental performances and sustainability.

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), is the most widely-used green building rating system in the world, with Platinum the highest level of accreditation awarded. LEED provides a framework for healthy, highly efficient and cost-saving sustainable buildings.
With a BER A3 rating, the Sorting Office has been designed and constructed to the highest standards, using practical and measurable solutions to reduce energy and water usage, promote better indoor air quality and reduce the environmental impact of construction materials and waste.
Located in the heart of the Silicon Docks, the Sorting Office comprises a seven-storey commercial building, with 202,000 sq ft of office space and 6,000 sq ft of prime retail space.

Key Sustainable Features

During construction, a total of 81.38% of waste was diverted from landfill. In addition, 35.25% of materials and systems used were sourced regionally, and 31.36% were recycled, further reducing the building’s carbon footprint.
The Sorting Office offers green roofs (80% of the roof area), and large vegetated spaces, incorporating native and adaptive planting to increase site biodiversity, while limiting the need for permanent irrigation, thus reducing the site’s water consumption.
Its exceptional location, with access to numerous amenities, services and residential developments, including Ropemaker Place, recently completed by Marlet, and proximity to excellent public transport (Dublin Bus, Luas, Dart), further enhance the environmental attractiveness of the building.

The Sorting Office’ occupants will enjoy natural daylight, with the design of the regularly occupied floor area offering high quality views, through large glazing and open plan office spaces.

Internally water efficient sanitary fixtures have been installed to reduce the overall building water consumption achieving an impressive 35.35% of water use reduction for the building.
