Collen built Affidea ExpressCare Northwood Opens

Affidea, a leading independent provider of diagnostic imaging and outpatient services, has invested €1.5 million in the establishment of a third ExpressCare Clinic in Ireland. The Collen Construction built facility in Santry, Dublin, opens to the public this week.

ExpressCare clinics by Affidea are ‘walk in’ facilities that treat minor injuries and illnesses that don’t require a hospital visit, open from 10am-10pm, 365 days a year in Tallaght, just 200 metres from Tallaght University Hospital, and at The Elysian in Cork. This is part of an overall €25 million investment by the company in the Irish healthcare sector over the last three years.

Barry Downes, Country Manager, Affidea Ireland, said; “Through our growing ExpressCare network, patients can be seen as a priority, receiving the attention they need in an outpatient environment, with minimal waiting times. ExpressCare also provides immediate access to our full suite of diagnostic services should patients need it, all within the same clinic, which is a unique benefit. We are very proud to deliver the highest quality medical services in a timely and stress-free manner for our patients not only in north and south Dublin, but throughout Leinster and Munster.”

Anthony Cooney, CEO Fingal Dublin Chamber, commented; “I welcome the opening of ExpressCare in Santry and believe this will be of significant benefit to people all over Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow; offering affordable care without long wait times. The opening of this new clinic will have a positive impact on the overcrowding being experienced in local hospitals and I very much welcome this initiative.”

Tommy Drumm, MD of Collen Construction, said; “We are delighted to work on our seventh major project with Affidea, delivering high quality builds to the highest safety and environmental standards. Our important work in Dublin follows the success of ExpressCare in Cork, and the installation of two new MRI machines in Dundrum and another in Northwood. We commend Affidea on their investment plan for the Irish healthcare sector and wish them continued success.

John Sweeney, Senior Contracts Manager, added; “We are thrilled to have successfully completed another ExpressCare unit for our esteemed client Affidea. This particular project was carried out in a live environment and would not be possible but for the cooperation of the management and staff in Northwood, along with the continued partnership we have developed with Affidea design teams and our supply chain. We congratulate Affidea on this important investment for the Irish healthcare sector and we are looking forward to expanding our working relationship into the future.”
