Double LEAN black belt qualification for Jones Engineering Group

Jones Engineering Group‘s Ray Curley and Peter Cooney have received their LEAN black belt qualification from University of Limerick.

The adoption of LEAN principles by leading companies in recent years is increasing and Jones Engineering are continuously performance very well in this area.

In 2014 Jones Engineering Group rekindled its Lean journey and started development sessions with groups of employees from different levels within the company, it looked for volunteers to step up and take on the challenge of further education in the Lean area.

The “Specialist Diploma in Quality Management – Lean Systems” at University of Limerick was identified as one of the best and most appropriate to the building sector. This NFQ Level 9 course takes twelve months to complete running over three semesters of fifteen weeks each.

A company based project forms a key element of the programme and ensures the integration of the various concepts into the workplace. This project is expected to realise significant savings and improvements for the participant organisation. Upon successful completion of their projects, both men received honours degrees and are now qualified Black Belts in Lean Management.
