The University of Limerick has awarded the contract for the Glucksman Library extension to BAM Building Ltd. The contract value is approximately €18 million.
The project involves the design, construction and maintenance of 7,200 m2 extension to the existing Glucksman Library and Information Services Building (GLISB) on the south campus of the University of Limerick.
The development ties into the existing GLISB, which will remain in operation during the construction phase.
The new facility is designed by RKD Architects at Dublin and comprises a basement level with four levels of accommodation above ground and will open September 2017.
The Glucksman Library is named for Lewis Glucksman and his wife, Loretta Brennan Glucksman, who generously supported the building of phase 1.
