Sierra wins All-Ireland NISO Supreme Safety Award

Sierra, a leading outsource service provider in Ireland, the UK and the Caribbean, was awarded the prestigious Supreme Safety Award at the 24th Annual National Irish Safety Organisation (NISO) Awards 2015.

To receive the Award’s top accolade is a major endorsement of Sierra’s continued commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety in its workforce and highlights the company’s drive to become industry leaders for outstanding safety performance.

Sierra has over thirty years’ experience in outsourcing solutions and through its quality of work and safety performance, the company has secured contracts to deliver integrated solutions to blue-chip clients including ESB, Bord Gais, Electric Ireland, Sky, Virgin Media, Digicel, ScottishPower and a multitude of public sector bodies. Within the company, safety, health, environmental and quality performance (SHEQ) are viewed as core business values and this ethos is evident as Sierra has been a consistent Category 1 winner since 2006.

TJ Malone, CEO, Sierra said: “It is a major achievement to win a NISO Award and I am very proud of the company’s ability to achieve this year on year. This prestigious Supreme Safety Award is an acknowledgement of the stellar work carried out by our employees and recognises our commitment to staff and customer safety. Sierra has invested heavily in training including our Health and Safety Training Academy or ‘Home of Learning’, a bespoke two‑storey house designed to offer a more practical environment in which a range of key scenarios can be replicated. Health and safety is always top of our agenda at every weekly senior management meeting and board meeting.”

Sierra’s project management capability covers the full remit of a project from recruitment and selection to training, deployment, field force management, KPI monitoring and reporting, health, safety and environment, back office and call centre support, scheduling, billing and reporting. Installation of in-home telecommunications equipment, servicing and repair of gas boilers, installation of pre-payment electricity meters, power line refurbishment, trenching and ducting, network upgrades and installation of water meters are some of the other activities undertaken every day by the Sierra team. It is critical to have the necessary health and safety controls in place to support these activities.

Willie Ryan, Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ) Director at Sierra explained: “The annual NISO Safety Awards submission gives Sierra the opportunity to conduct a detailed review of what the company has achieved over the preceding 12 months and to help set the strategy for the coming year(s). Health and Safety is at the centre of what we do. Over the past number of years, the business has developed an impeccable SHEQ record and, as a result, this has opened doors to new business opportunities. We work hard every day to make sure our employees come to work and go home safely. This award is recognition of all the hard work carried out by our 35 full-time SHEQ advisors and our 1,954 strong team.”
