Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton TD announced today that Teleflex Incorporated, a leading global provider of medical devices for critical care and surgery, has confirmed its intention to create more than 100 high-skilled positions over the next three years at its Athlone, Ireland office.
The expansion is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.
The announcement came after Minster Bruton met with executives at Teleflex’s headquarters to discuss expansion plans as part of the IDA Ireland investment mission to the United States.
Since the creation of the Athlone site in 2007, Teleflex has grown to employ more than 150 people who support the Company’s growing business in Europe, Middle East, Africa (“EMEA”), Asia Pacific and India. Teleflex is one of the top 160 companies by revenue in Ireland, and the Athlone site recently was accredited as one of the best workplaces in Ireland by the Great Place to Work Institute.
The Athlone business employs front office functions such as administration, customer service, finance, human resources, information technology quality, operations and research and development.
Making the announcement today, Minister Bruton said: “Medical devices is a key sector which we have targeted as part of the Government’s Action Plan for Jobs, and in the past three years we have seen an impressive jobs performance in this area. Today’s announcement that Teleflex, a leading global company in this area, is creating an additional 100 jobs in Athlone is a great boost. I know from meeting executives today that Teleflex is a great company and is highly ambitious for their facility in Athlone, and I look forward to working with them as they grow their operations there”.
“In the past seven years, Teleflex has worked closely with IDA Ireland to develop a successful operation for our international business. Our continued investment demonstrates our confidence that we can recruit and develop the talented people we will need to support the long-term growth of our Company,” said Benson Smith, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer.
