The Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, Phil Hogan, T.D., today welcomed the publication by Irish Water of its Capital Investment Plan 2014- 2016.
Irish Water has announced a total investment package of €1.7billion in water supply and wastewater treatment plants across the state.
This figure included the additional €200m which the Minister secured from Government last week “I welcome this substantial programme which will see progress and the delivery of 380 water infrastructure projects nationwide.
I have said time and time again that an investment in water services is an investment in jobs and this package will see up to 15,000 jobs sustained and created over the period of the programme. It will also assist in providing for much needed serviced zoned land to assist in attracting businesses and the supply of much needed housing in every county throughout the state.
