Seasonally adjusted Live Register decreases by 2,500 in June

On a seasonally adjusted basis the Live Register total recorded a monthly decrease of 2,500 in June 2013, reducing the seasonally adjusted total to 422,900. 

In unadjusted terms there were 435,357 people signing on the Live Register in June 2013. This represents an annual decrease of 16,617 (-3.7%). See table 1a.
The standardised unemployment rate (SUR) in June 2013 was 13.6%, down from 13.7% in May 2013. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate from the most
recent Quarterly National Household Survey (QNHS) was 13.7% in the first quarter of 2013.

Other features include:  On a seasonally adjusted basis the Live Register showed a monthly decrease of 2,800 males in June 2013, while females increased by 300 over the same period.

The number of male claimants decreased by 15,774 (-5.5%) to 270,937 over the year while female claimants showed little change decreasing by 843 (-0.5%) to 164,420. This compares with a decrease of 9,438 (-3.2%) to 286,711 for males and an increase of 3,464 (+2.1%) to 165,263 for females in the year to June 2012.
