Cosgrave Property Group has begun construction of a new retail complex on part of the former Dún Laoghaire Golf Club grounds at Upper Glenageary Road. Park Pointe retail centre will have an overall floor area of 3,250sq m (35,000sq ft) including a new Tesco supermarket which will extend to 1,600sq m (17,200sq ft).
Neither Cosgraves nor Tesco have disclosed how much the supermarket chain paid for the store which will open for business early in 2014.
Park Pointe is the first shopping complex to be developed in south Dublin since the Leopardstown centre was completed in 2007.
Letting agent Finnegan Menton has also signed a lease with Costa Coffee for a 160sq m (1,722sq ft) café which will be rented at €430 per sq m (€40 per sq ft).
Seven other retail units are also available for letting in a range of sizes from 80 to 180sq m (861 to 1,937sq ft). Traders will also have the option of combining some of the outlets. Nicholas Corson of Finnegan Menton said the Cosgrave development will be warmly welcomed by the property industry and those living in the surrounding area.
Park Pointe had been designed as a traditional shopping centre with easy access and free surface car-parking facilities for over 100 cars.
Anne Doyle, director of stores at Tesco, was a guest at the official launch of the new centre, one of three stores currently being developed for Tesco – the others are at Gorey and Dundalk.
The centre was designed by architects McCrossan O’Rourke and features double height fully glazed units with curved roofs and high quality finishes.
Park Pointe is located at the front of Honeypark, Cosgrave’s latest development of houses and apartments.
