Over 50 jobs created at Tralee restaurant

53 jobs have been created at the new Rocky Mountain Family Restaurant and Drive Thru which will open its doors to the public on Friday July 5.

The restaurant, co-owned by well known Tralee publican and businessman John McElligott proprietor of Sean Og’s Bar, is located opposite Manor West Retail Park on the main Tralee to Killarney road.

“We are delighted to be in a position to provide employment to such a large group of people which will have a positive knock-on effect for the economy in Tralee,” said John McElligott.

“This is the first restaurant of its kind in Ireland offering a menu to suit a variety of tastes and dietary requirements. We have placed a major emphasis on the locality throughout the entirety of this project as all the staff are resident in Kerry and all the food served in the restaurant will be sourced from local suppliers,” he said.

Day to day running of the business will be the responsibility of manager Helen O’Connor from Tralee who said the restaurant will offer something for everyone.

“We have put a lot of thought into our menus with a choice of fast food, a pizza bar, a salad counter and a coffee dock, all in a spacious dining area that has been designed to cater for large volumes of customers who may wish to eat in or grab a bite to take away,” said Helen O’Connor.

To mark the restaurant opening on Sunday July 7, regardless of the outcome between Cork and Kerry, anyone travelling to or from the Munster Final who produces their ticket or match programme will receive a 10% discount on certain items. Source: The Kerryman
