Under the Wicklow Environs/ Rathnew LAP, the majority of the lands are located in Action Area 7. This designates part of the lands for Residential with a majority zoned Open Space and section also unzoned. The Plan also includes an objective for the future development of a relief/ link road to run across the lands, which has never been developed to date. Planning permission also exists on part for the development of 156 residential units and a crèche. Wicklow County Council granted an extension of duration of this permission for a further period of 5 years in 2011.
